Sugar Gliders are high energy animals and need an outlet to release that energy! This can most easily be provided by having a proper wheel. It is important to get a Sugar Glider Safe Wheel, as most wheels on the market are not truly safe for sugar gliders.

A safe wheel should:
*Be completely flat on the inside. Hamster/rat wheels have a bar in the middle which will cause spinal injuries with gliders. Another dangerous feature with small animal wheels would be any moving bearing that spins inside the wheel. Gliders "hop" or bounce through the wheel, so any rotating piece can snag their tail causing serious injury.
*Have tracks/mesh instead of a solid surface. A sold wheel is impractical since gliders like to grip when they run.
*Not have nail trimming paper around the entire wheel. Since gliders like to grab onto the track, it'll be painful for them to constantly grab the rough nail trimming paper.
*Be completely open in the front. A wheel with a cover can cause spinal injuries from trying to jump in and out of the wheel.
*Be at least 12 inches in diameter or more. Since gliders are small but bouncy, they need more than enough room to run without bending their backs.
The Pet Glider offers wheels which are handmade and designed with sugar glider safety as our #1 priority. Our wheels are guaranteed to be 100% silent, very easy to clean and last a lifetime during use.
